Tanabata Matsuri, Japantown
In the summer the Japanese hold the Tanabata festival which celebrates two celestial lovers who meet only once a year on the seventh day of the seventh month, but only if the night is clear. To help the lovers, people would write their wish for a clear sky on a piece of paper and hang it on a tree. Nowadays, people write their own wishes on the paper and in July dozens of trees are placed in Japantown to hold the thousands of hand-written wishes.
